Secondary Transition

IMG 9333 318pxAt Sneinton C of E School we have developed a comprehensive transition programme for year 6 moving to year 7. We currently work in partnership with The Nottingham Academy and are developing a similar programme with The Nottingham Emmanuel School.

We feel it is crucial for our year 6 pupils to be prepared for the changes that lie ahead for them in year 7. With this in mind we have developed the following activities:

  • Year 5 spend the day at The Academy with their LSA
  • September - The Academy staff visit Sneinton CofE to speak to parents/carers
  • September - Year 6 have a tour of the year 7 base at The Academy
  • September- Year 6 parents/carers have a tour of the year 7 base at The Academy
  • September- Year 6 parents/carers have a tour of the year 7 base at The Academy
  • November and April- Year 6 from the four feeder primary schools meet for an activity afternoon
  • June - The Academy staff visit Sneinton CofE to speak to year 6 pupils
  • 2nd July 2013- City/County year 6 transition day
  • 9th - 11th July- Year 6 to visit The Academy to take part in lessons
  • August - 2 week Summer Camp for year 6 pupils at The Academy

Throughout the transition programme pupils and parents/carers are encouraged to ask any questions that they may have in order to gather as much information that they can.
